This project requires the upgrade and modernization of nearly every process in the 48 MGD facility that has supplied drinking water to the Winston-Salem region since the 1980s. Modifications to this conventional treatment plant include improvements to the existing raw water pumping station, administration building, rapid mix and flocculation basins, sedimentation basins, chemical building, and storage facility. The work also includes new water pumps, airwash blowers, backwash supply tank and valve vault, and a new washwater equalization tank and clarifier.
